Miriam Farag, OD, is Bentz Eye Center‘s highly trained optometrist. At the office in West Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Farag specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, cataract post-operative examinations, diplopia, and sensorimotor testing. In addition, she is also an expert at soft and RGP contact lens fits as well as cornea, neuro, glaucoma, and retina treatment and co-management.
Dr. Farag graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2005. In 2006, Dr. Farag completed a residency in acquired brain injury/vision rehabilitation and pediatrics at the State University of New York University Optometric Center. In 2009 she received her fellowship at the American Academy of Optometry.
During her residency, she trained with some of the most distinguished and accomplished neuro-ophthalmologists, neuro-optometrists, pediatric optometrists, and a full-scope rehabilitative team. She has a strong passion for working with patients with binocular visual deficits and visual processing disorders.
She held a position as an adjunct clinical faculty member at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry for eight years. Dr. Farag also practiced full-scope optometry for six years at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, ranked as the number one eye institute in the country for the past 15 years in a row. She has also published and presented multiple posters at the American Academy of Optometry and the South Eastern Congress of Optometry meetings.
Dr. Farag’s scholarly interests include neuro-ophthalmic disease, vestibular disorders in acquired brain injury patients, binocular vision, and pediatrics. She has lectured on acquired brain injury visual deficits and neuro-optometric rehabilitation in Beijing, China, New York, and various continuing education courses in Florida. Dr. Farag is currently a member of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Farag’s personal interests include spending time with friends, family, and her two young children. She also enjoys traveling, learning about and experiencing different cultures, wine tasting, horseback riding, and just relaxing by the beach.
